"Motherland" is the national anthem of Mauritius. The music was officially composed by Philippe Gentil M.B.E. (former member of the Mauritius Police Force), with the lyrics written by Jean Georges Prosper. However due to a newspaper mistake in 1968 Philippe Oh San, (former bandmaster of the Mauritius Police Band) was credited as the composer which caused a confusion.
